Students in Mrs. Reedy World Culture class completing their island research project.

Students in Ms. Mielk's class completed projects on selling a country.
Last week I posted self-portraits for second-year art students.  This is from 6th grader!  Mrs. Grizzle says even I could do it - obviously, she hasn't had me in class.

8th graders are attending a career fair on Monday.

PAWS for Fun is Tuesday for 7th graders, Wednesday for 8th graders, and Thursday for 6th graders.  This is a celebration for students who complete all their work, have good attendance and behave appropriately.

Next week is also Basketball tournaments,

Have a great weekend.

One of the fun things about watching basketball is observing the student body, especially when the game is close.

If you just look at this picture, it seems like a bunch of dance shoes.  What you don't know is that I had just walked through the commons and all the dancers were there stretching.  A few seconds later when I came back through, this is all I saw.  I thought for sure our dancers had been snatched by aliens!

I am always so impressed when I visit our Woodshop class. The students know how to use all the tools and even which tools to use to get the outcome they want.  Gumball machines should be ready soon.

GMS HS Art I students visited Blanton Museum again today.  I love that they are able to participate in the Social Justice conversation through the lens of art.

2020 Vision and Voice Winners
GMS had several winners:  Harrison A., Izzy B., Daniel A., and Collin J.  Check out the website to read their stories. http://k12.visionandvoice.org/

Unfortunately, GMS Tigers are having a difficult time cleaning up after they eat.  If you could help us remind students about throwing away their trash that would be great.

A couple of reminders:
Make sure you register your child for the next school year.  This must be completed every year.
Students qualifying for NJHS have been posted.  If your child is interested please go to:
Also, please complete the district Family Survey at:

Thank you, have a great weekend.

I love it when new artwork is posted.  Simply amazing!

I thought I would share some pictures of what happens when you remove technology from students.  They actually begin to play games and talk with each other.  It's a great thing to see.

Just a reminder that Girls Basketball is still in season and typically play on Thursday nights.  They would love your support.

Next Friday incoming 5th graders will be touring GMS while our 8th graders are touring Bowie.

Have a great weekend.

Gorzycki hosted the Souper Bowl of Caring Kick-off last Friday.
It was quite interactive with games for Epic.  Mr. Tieh and Mr. De la Garza were very competitive.
And my office was almost filled with cans!

I haven't heard who the winner was but the Spelling Bee Winners will be announced soon.
And we finished off the week with our Winter Dance.

Remember it is a 3 day weekend.   See you back on Tuesday.

GMS's second annual Service Fair was another huge success!  There were over 24 service organizations and students made thousands of donated items.  Thank you, PTA!

The Winter Assembly is one of my favorite traditions at GMS.  It was started by Diane Gorzycki herself as a way of thanking the staff for all their support.  We saw performances from the dance team...

 Choir...
 Guitar...
 Orchestra...
 Theater...
 and Band.
Plus the art classes created all the decorations for the amazing luncheon...
And were the best servers ever!  My tea was never empty.

Wishing our GMS Families a relaxing and safe holiday season!

Monday 8th graders will be participating in a Service Fair here at GMS.  The entire school has been making projects for over 10 service organizations this week.  Thank you for donating all the items.

Wednesday is the GMS PTA Cookie Exchange.  Again thanks in advance for all the cookies.

Thursday is the Winter Fine Arts Assembly.  Hopefully, I remember to take pictures.

Enjoy the beautiful weekend.
