A week with rain always adds energy on the campus.  Unfortunately, the rain caused some damage in one of our portables.  Luckily Mr. Piper quickly noticed the situation, moved the students to another area of the room, and kept the learning moving forward.  By the time I made it out to the portable, I didn't even notice a problem.

Ms. Oh, one of our awesome counselors, started 6th grade guidance lessons this week. 

So much is happening next week. First we are celebrating the end of the first six weeks with PAWS for Fun. This reward is during 6th period Monday.  Ask your student if they get to participate.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3RD

“Going on a Cougar Hunt” – WEAR CAMO 

Cheer, Dance, Football & Volleyball will be hosting a pep rally for students during school!

No parents are allowed as space is not available for them to attend.

Join the PTA at Cane Rosso's Pizzaiolo (4715 S Lamar Blvd #103, Sunset Valley, TX 78745) from 5-9pm for dinner! 15% of their sales will be donated to Gorzycki. They are creating a Gorzycki special pizza that is not normally offered in honor of GMS Homecoming! This will be a fun pizza for the special occasion.

Head over to Tony Burger Stadium (3200 Jones Rd, Austin, TX 78745) to cheer on the Band, Dance, Cheer and Football Teams! 7A Football game starts at 6pm, 8A Football game starts at around 7:30pm. Band, Dance & Cheer will be there to perform! Come out and cheer on the Tigers!

The GMS Dance team will be hosting the Homecoming Dance.  The dance will be from 6-8pm and all GMS students are invited to attend.  Due to security reason ONLY GMS students and volunteers will be allowed into the dance.  Dance attire is GMS colors and spirit wear.  Prizes will be awarded for most spirited, so get creative Tigers!

Way to go Lady Tigers.  They are definitely on a roll...

GMS Green Ag class is up and running.  This week students identified native and non-native plants.

Can't wait for our first theater performance.  There is lots of practicing happening...

GMS has a new Gnasher.  Both the student and uniform are new.  One never knows when Gnasher might show up on campus or a game.  Be on the lookout.

Classroom libraries are so important.  Look what happened several years ago to one of the 6th grade classroom libraries when students were asked to organize themselves.  I love the idea of arranging by color.  It gets my attention every time I walk in the room.

GMS has volleyball games as well at the 6th grade social next week.  Support with one or the either is always appreciated.

Volleyball season has begun.  All four GMS volleyball teams had games this week.  I was able to watch the 7th grade games.  So much fun to see the new teams at work.  

 GMS even hosted a Bowie Volleyball tournament.  Most of this freshman team were previous Lady Tigers. 

The GMS Student Council, Faculty, and PTA needs your help.  Donations for the evacuees in Austin and volunteer teams at the coast are needed.  All types of perishable items are needed, especially gift cards for groceries, food, and supply centers.  Donation boxes are already set-up around the school and supplies will be distributed daily.  We know the Tiger Community will rally and donations will be plenty.  Thank you in advance.

Today was our first Popcorn Friday hosted by PTA.  It is our favorite day of the month.

Don't forget Tuesday is Back-to-School Night.  Please have copies of your student's schedule.
