Monday is the PTA general Spring meeting @ 6:00 pm in the library.  The topic will be Legislative Priorities for the 85th session for AISD.  Please make plans to join us.

If you need something to do this weekend, the girls soccer teams are playing on campus.  If you are over Girl Scout cookies but still want some chocolate, find an orchestra student. Orchestra students are selling chocolate for the Orchestra fundraiser   This is the last week for their fundraiser.

GMS is experimenting on productive ways to help students focused in class.  Several weeks ago, we order stationary pedals for desks.  Students loved them.  Now we are observing how the rubber bands for desk work.  These are so popular that we are placing another order next week.

Today was PAWS for Fun.  Several new locations were opened up based on student feedback.

You have to love beautiful days in Austin...
Glad to see students being silly outside...
The new UNO room exploded to the hallway..
 The new youtube room...
 The movie room...
I do think students enjoyed the new spaces, and it was a great celebration after a long six weeks.   Have a great weekend.

Just a reminder about school rules.

  • Cell phones, other devices, and ear buds are not to be seen after 8:25 am unless teachers have a BYOD sign on their door.  This includes hallways and the cafeteria.  Texting, Social Media, checking personal emails, playing games, taking pictures, and surfing the web are NEVER allowed on campus.  Confiscated phones have a 48 hour hold and $15 fee.
  • Shorts, dresses and shirts worn with leggings must be fingertip length.  Shirts must have a 3 inch sleeve.
  • Fidget toys must be used appropriately or they will be confiscated.
  • In the mornings, food and drinks are to be consumed in the cafeteria at the breakfast tables.
  • Nothing should be sold on campus.

Choice Sheet Night was a huge success.  Remember that choice sheets were due this week.

No Place For Hate GMS Coalition is sponsoring a poetry contest with the intent of spreading awareness of bullying.  Poems can be submitted through Mr. Martin's webpage by Feb. 10th.

Have you noticed your students reading more than normal lately.  Mrs. Wiese, our librarian, is hosting a Read-a-thon.  As I visited classes this week, I have noticed thousands of pages being read by our students.  I even think there is a prize for the class who has read the most!  Keep reading.

There was a great turnout at the FMP district meeting last night.  Please refer to the district website for the most recent updates.

GMS ended the week by celebrating Women's Heart Health Day by wearing red and hosting our Valentine's Dance.

Choice Sheets are due next week.  If you have questions, please come to our Choice Sheet Night Tuesday.
