Today's blog post will show why I am so proud to be the principal at Gorzycki Middle School.

Renae Donus the PTA president, had a vision for a Service Day at GMS.  With the help of many parents like Melissa Lamm, Nancy Flores, and Caroline Wolff, that vision became reality.  Each 6th period class selected a Service Project to complete with items donated by our GMS families.  Plus the entire 8th grade student body visited the Service Fair where over 30 organizations were on-sight.  I actually heard 8th graders tell the PTA thank you for the amazing opportunity!

All the projects collected at the end of the day for distributions...

A tradition created by Diane Gorzycki was a winter assembly for the student body and luncheon for the staff.  This awesome tradition is carried on by the Fine Arts team at GMS.

The Winter Choir Concert rocked a full house this week.  They ended the week with a trip to xxx
The GMS Woodshop classes are finishing their projects.  I love all the different birdhouses.
The library has been busy with "Hour of Coding".  Great to see students learning how to code.

Each one of you should have received an email from your child's 6th period teacher explaining the Service Project the class is completing.  Teachers are requesting support for supplies.  These projects will start the week of December 17th.  Thank you to all who have already helped with supplies.

The PTA fundraiser which is raising money for technology is in full swing.  Last I checked we were only about 15% of our goal.  Teachers and students have been making videos asking for your support.  Please check out website to donate and Facebook page for videos.

Have a "dry"  weekend.  9 days left before break!

I know that I have done lots of bragging this year about the new librarian at GMS.  This week when I  walked into the library to checkout the Book Fair, I noticed some interesting display cases.  The Library Aides are required to create book displays.  What a creative way to get students involved in a different aspect of the library.

Upcoming Events:  Monday is CAC and Spirit Night at Satellite Bistro; Tuesday is our fall pep rally; Wednesday is both a Green Ag and Guitar Fieldtrips; Thursday is Basketball and Friday is Soccer tryouts.
Keep warm and have a great weekend.

Band students are practicing for competition.  Part of their practice sheet has been playing to me.  Not sure I am the best choice, but I have loved listening to them.
