GMS's second annual Service Fair was another huge success!  There were over 24 service organizations and students made thousands of donated items.  Thank you, PTA!

The Winter Assembly is one of my favorite traditions at GMS.  It was started by Diane Gorzycki herself as a way of thanking the staff for all their support.  We saw performances from the dance team...

 Choir...
 Guitar...
 Orchestra...
 Theater...
 and Band.
Plus the art classes created all the decorations for the amazing luncheon...
And were the best servers ever!  My tea was never empty.

Wishing our GMS Families a relaxing and safe holiday season!

GMS had lots of fun celebrating Red Ribbon Week.  I think crazy sock day was my favorite...

Band students this week practiced by completing the BINGO sheet.  There were two different places for them to play for the principal!

This was definitely my favorite costume of the day, especially when looking from a side view.

As teachers walked by, I had a hard time knowing who they were.  I had to do several double-takes to recognize Mr. Sindt.  And if it wasn't for Mr. Howard's voice, I wouldn't have recognized him either!

Only One Gorzycki is on Monday.  This is an event for incoming students.  GMS will showcase all of the electives offered.  Teachers will be available to answer any questions.  This event is for both students and parents.

Basketball has started and I know the girls would love to have more fans in the stands.  Check out our website for specific dates and times.

Have a great weekend and stay warm and don't forget to set your clocks back.

Do you know what BLEND is?  This is the platform used in AISD for student learning.  Most students would say it is where they find their assignments.  Parents have access to BLEND as well.  In BLEND there is a course title Gorzycki Middle Campus Community Course.  It's another way to receive information.  If you aren't clear on how to use this, ask your child.  They have the course as well.  If you are an 8th-grade parent, I have sent you a message.

GMS celebrated Pride Week with clothing specific days.  Today was wear a color of the rainbow.

Yesterday was "Don't be tacky and discriminate.   Mr. Mahoney is always in the spirit to dress up.

In keyboarding this week, students created presentations on Digital safety.

Speaking of technology... 8th-grade parents here are some reminders from the GMS tech team:

  1. Please make sure that your student is using the district issued carry case or a protective sleeve for their device. We have already had several screens damaged due to improper handling.
  2. Beginning Tuesday 10/15, if students are not using their district-issued carry case or a protective sleeve, students will receive lunch detention.
  3. Students should restart their Chromebooks at least once per day.
  4. Please remind your student to charge his/her Chromebook each night so it's ready to use at school the next day.
Don't forget the next two weeks are short.  Students are off tomorrow and Monday.
